Scout Experiences

Scouting is more than just a meeting. Our Scouts experience Scouts not just see it on paper. If you ask our Scouts, they will tell you they enjoy fishing, Camping, Outdoor Cooking, Climbing, Hiking, Shooting Sports, White Water Rafting and Survival.

Skills for Life

Each year Scouts have a variety of activities and Merit Badges that they participate in. First Aid and CPR are a spring event with our unit, and your scout will become not only proficient but certified. We offer Spring swim lessons to get scouts ready for summer camp. We work on cooking that can be done at home but in the comfort of the outdoors.

Camping throughout the year

Our Scouts get the option to camp throughout the year. This year we have a Water Palooza at one of our Counsel camps, Two Merit Badge Academy Campouts, A skills weekend campout, Camping in our local community, and a campout at Fort Desoto.

Conservation & Outdoor Code

Scouting educates youth on being stewards of the land. That starts at a young age and continues throughout their years of Scouting. Our Units have done conservations projects in our community as well as at State Parks and local counsel camps. We have Scouts actively involved with Order of the Arrow which is a program unique to scouting with a focus on conservation.

Summer Camp

Each Summer the Scouts choose a camp that they would like to attend. In the past years the Troops have attended Camp Woodruff – Blairsville, GA, Camp La-no-che – Paisley, FL, Camp Shands – Hawthorne, FL, Camp Daniel Boone – Canton, NC. We have had Scouts venture on their own to additional scout camps such as Camp HoNonWah – Wadmalaw Island, SC, Camp Norris – Eden, VT and Camp Rainy Mountain – Clayton, GA and even join a Philmont High Adventure Crew in New Mexico. They have chosen to return to Camp Woodruff for 2027.
